This guide provides step-by-step instructions on how to export your catalogue from the platform, allowing you to add your collection smoothly onto other platforms. This process is easy and efficient, ensuring your collection is accessible and easily discoverable.
Use the catalogue export to generate MARC or KBART files of your collection. Make all the edits you need and then import your Perlego collection into any platforms you use to make titles discoverable by your readers.
What can I export?
You can download MARC and KBART records of your full Perlego catalogue or subset of your catalogue from the Subscription Manager.
This means you can easily upload your Perlego content to systems you use at your organisation, such as library management or cataloguing systems, as well as share the catalogue with colleagues.
What's a MARC file?
A MARC record stands for Machine-Readable Cataloging record. MARC records are used to make Perlego titles accessible within a library management system or discovery services.
They are not useful for sharing with colleagues unless they know how to use and open MARC records.
MARC records were developed by the Library of Congress, see their guides on understanding MARC records to learn more.
Perlego generates the MARC records based on the data we receive from publishers and distributors.

What's a KBART file?
KBART is an abbreviation of Knowledge Bases And Related Tools. It is the industry standard file format for Knowledge Bases.
The great thing about KBART files is they are both human-readable and machine readable, which means they can be used to share your Perlego catalogue with colleagues and academics, as well as uploaded into a knowledge base.
Typically when you export a KBART file it will be a .txt file but you can open and save KBART files in any spreadsheet software (e.g. Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets). To do this either choose to ‘Open With’ and select your chosen spreadsheet software, alternatively save the file as a .tsv or .csv and then open it.
You can learn more about the NISO’s KBART standard here.
